Waste management in rural areas is too often overlooked and neglected. Without adequate systems in place, communities face growing environmental and health risks that remain largely invisible in global conversations. At Racines et Avenir, we believe this must change. Our initiative focuses on: Raising awareness about responsible waste practices Supporting community-led waste collection and sorting Promoting sustainable solutions adapted to rural realities Empowering local communities to take ownership of change By tackling this neglected issue, we aim to protect ecosystems, improve living conditions, and create sustainable opportunities for the future.
Racines et Avenir is launching a community library project in Bamena to give children access to school and educational books through donations from villagers and the diaspora. The library will be run by dedicated volunteers and open to all enrolled students in the village. We are currently collecting book donations to make this project a reality. The goal is simple: make sure no child is held back by a lack of books. Through this initiative, we hope to encourage reading, support independent learning, and strengthen the bond between Bamena and its diaspora around a shared commitment to education.
